17:33 PM PST
I have been power crafting lately, as I have that license (I never spell that right) that I mentioned in the last post and in theory I'm doing a tiny show in December so I should really, you know, have stuff that's saleable. Not to mention finishing Christmas gifts and and and.

The website, for the curious, is Creature Comforts. Go! Explore! Enjoy!

Come next week, I will be power writing, too, as I'm going to go ahead and try NaNoWriMo again. I have yet to finish a year, but I keep trying so that counts.

Nye's book continues apace. I am a busy girl, for all that I never really leave the house.

Oh, and I am slowly painting our new front door. Go me!

Much travel ahead for the holidays. Den and I are hitting Vegas with the in-laws (my inlaws) for Thanksgiving. And then back east for my side of the family for Christmas. But we'll be home for New Years'!

Last day with Ari here. It's been nice to have some company, as I am not the most sociable of creatures regularly. Still, must get up bright and early to take her home tomorrow, so I will go to bed after I've written this.

Today, we finished watching Firefly (again for me, first time for her), went out to lunch (at the mongolian BBQ, LA. Missed you.) Then we had pizza and watched Boondock Saints. She has been properly introduced.

I've done a ton of work on the filet crochet for Unc, so that's good. Not so much on the beadwork, so that will be this week.

Speaking of which: I have my seller's permit. Woohoo! I'm all legal. The address is wrong and I don't know what my tax schedule is, but! I'm legal. I can apply to shows now.

'course, the one in Folsom is the weekend of our tea for the chapter, AND, no tables supplied. So p'raps I should look at another weekend. But, it's a start.

And now, bed.

Upgraded GM, so we'll see if it works this time. Last time I attempted to make an entry, it shrieked and gibbered at me, and I cried.

I also got access to my file directory back (yes, I was being lazy), so I'll be able to update my, oh, reading list, for example. If anyone's still checking out the site and cares.

Slowly, slowly I drag myself back to life.

First things first: Happy birthday to Kit! Also, happy birthday to Anna!

I'm editing still, which is good, because it makes me remember that I *can* write, even if it needs to be polished now. Did a tally of my unfinished stuff last night and discovered that I've got about a book and a half worth of excess words flying around. You'd think I could finish one of those, wouldn't you? Maybe when I'm done with the great re-editing.

(That count doesn't include stuff I wrote with Catie.)

The cat has been doing a little better. Though she just threw up. Augh. Hopefully she won't do it all day. Anyway, she's been acting like a real cat, which is nice. A very very skinny cat, but a cat.

Right, so. Now for the more official update:

I wrote some new stuff. Stalled out on it, which I am currently taking to mean it needs more time to percolate. So, I'm back to rewriting what I've got. Which is good, because it needs it. I'm humoring the muse at the moment, since she likes to go quiet for long spans of time. I'm hoping to have something at least partly done before National so I can go to appointments honestly.

Been reading old stuff, too. I'm pleased to say that a lot of it holds up. What doesn't, at least prose wise, can be easily fixed. Plot, we'll have to see. Executing a plot successfully is a short-coming of mine. Acknowledged. Embraced. Now it can change.

It has been high stress around the place lately. The latest and greatest has to do with one of the cats (who is eating and drinking now, so that's better but she's very very bony and she doesn't purr like she used to).

But I'm still kicking.

10:18 AM PST
Okay, just the archives are broken. Well, that's good to no. And, ew. I have to go through and cull out comment spam. I never get 31 comments on a post. Blee.

10:11 AM PST
Okay, so my website is apparently really screwed up. Which is part of the reason for no posting.

Don't know if I can fix it. I'll try.

I finished reading a WoD book (world of darkness, vampires, for those not in the know) today, and was startled by how good it was. I read it in two days. It was just that good. And. Yeah.

Surprised.

And then I finished my synopsis and shooped it off. About 500 words, hacked down to 250. Oh the pain.

Tomorrow p'raps I'll write what I'm supposed to.

Hullo!

I am not dead.

I am simply not exciting.

I finally finished the first part of the book, which is 110 pages long and 27500 words so I'm a little more than a sixth of the way through. 490 pages to go.

Whee!

I return you to your regular radio silence.

12:43 PM PST

Believe it or not, I do have an author webpage.

It's http://sarahpalmero.com

I just changed some of the pages on there.

Go take a look and see what's what, if you're curious.

17:37 PM PST
98 pages. So very, very close to 1/6th of the way finished.

Hey, it's a milestone. A small milestone, but it's better than nothing.

Chapter 11 is finished, and I'm beginning to feel like I started the book way too early. But, as Catie says, not the time to worry about that yet.

I am not dead, as this update proves. I'm still having organizational issues. (You should see my house.) But, as of Tuesday, the hell year is over. Things can only get better.

My best to you all.

Slackin slackin slackin, Sarah has been slackin!

:)

I really have. But, after class tonight I came home and made myself write 500 words.

I can do 500 words a day. At least. This is not too much for me, even with my broken brain.

Very often, 500 words lead to more, but 500 is a manageable goal. And 500 words gets me excited about the book again.

So for all my florning about SO MANY WORDS and how will I get there and what do I write next, I really do like the world and the characters and the story.

So I will do this. 500 words at a time.

10:11 AM PST
Check out how not dead I am.

:)

Finally wrote some more, after having a self-doubt day. Again. What a shock.

So chapter 10 is done and the first part of the story is finished. Now Nye can actually grow up and we can get to the exciting fantasy part of the thing.

22,000 words down, only 128,000 more to go.

Oi.

14:36 PM PST
Time flies. I am amazed at how fast days get away from me without me realizing.

Guess that means I'm getting old. :)

Eye is mostly better. School has started again.

And I finished another chapter today, which makes 9, which means I've only got 521 more pages to go.

o.o

15:15 PM PST
At human hours (as opposed to the inhuman hour of my posting), I wrote 700 words on Thursday. 800 yesterday. (I'm rounding. Down, actually, but that's okay.)

Today, I have a stye. Well, I had it Thursday and Friday too. Today the little bugger decided to make life really fun.

So now I have more antibiotics and goop for my eye which means I can't see real well out of one side of my head.

Did I mention it was my first meeting as chapter president today?

I am attempting to look at this from the aboriginal point of view, and see the good that comes from this, and how this was supposed to be and there is a lesson to be learned from it.

Right now, all I can see is how the shit keeps getting piled on and all I have is this broken shovel.

Yeah, yeah. Working on it.

01:15 AM PST

Writing today.

After fearing that I'd stalled at 800 words, I wrote another 600 for a total of 1400. Go me.

If I could do that every day I'd be happy. I used to be able to. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Chapter 7's done. Only 541 more pages to go.

*splat*

08:43 AM PST
So, on the news front:

Passed my county test yesterday, so I'm officially (well, don't have the card yet, but) an EMT for Sacramento county. Woohoo!

Had to go back to the doctor yesterday where they put me on diuretics to try to knock some points off my BP. Oh joy oh rapture. Not so much woohoo there.

And must try to write today. Other than that, I'm pretty good. How are you?

When?
Why?

To keep my friends and family up to date. To entertain myself. Because I can. Do I need better reasons?

What?
How?

Lots and lots of messing around and breaking things. :)

+ a several more as of 08.29.02
